We’re hugely excited about the play area we are planning to build at Sherwood, not least because we’ve had an important helping hand from some experts – serious fun-loving kids!
There was no messing about – well, maybe just a bit – when we held a consultation day in Sherwood Forest in October, to get down to thinking about what our play area needs.
The team we’ve chosen for the job – award-winning playground design and build company, Infinite Playgrounds – know a thing or two about fun, having created some fabulous play parks up and down the country, and they were pretty impressed by the ideas youngsters came up with at the event.
Sam McGeever, creative director at the North Shields-based company, said the Robin Hood theme will obviously be a key feature of the area, which gives great scope for some imaginative designs.
“With a landscape and history as rich and wonderful as Sherwood Forest’s, we’re confident this play area will be something to shout about,” he said.
“It was a great turn out, with lots of local families and a few visitors from further afield. There was lots of positivity, and support for the new play area, and we can’t wait to get started on developing our designs further, based on the feedback from the day.”
Nottinghamshire County Council is providing £40,000 for the new play area, to help improve facilities in the local community.
